Get to Know the Honorees
Since the Dorothy Awards were introduced in 2004, the event has honored more than 30 individuals and organizations that, while disparate in their choice of efforts, have made a positive contribution to the community in some way, in particular in the state of Connecticut. They've been nominated by the Pride Center, their peers and the community at large, and through the Dorothy Awards we recognize their service and dedication. In this section, we document those who have received the award, to ensure their efforts are remembered not just at the event, but going forward.
Meet this year's honorees
This year the Pride Center is proud to honor another well-deserving group: Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen (D.E.S.K.) Executive Director Diana Richter Ph.D., Hartford Mayor Pedro Segarra, entertainer and fundraiser Robin Banks, and Out Film CT, which organizes the annual Connecticut Gay & Lesbian Film Festival. Learn more about this year's honorees by clicking here. Interviews will follow as the event approaches.
Our honorees through the years
As part of documenting our state's GLBT history, we have also posted in this section bios going back to our first year so you can learn more about all of the Dorothy Awards honorees. Click here to read about our previous honorees.
